About Passages Therapy Services

Dr. Ferrin was born and raised in New York, earned his doctorate from Yeshiva University, after completing his Master's Degree at Queens College. An active member of the psychological community, he served two years as President of the Nassau County Psychological Association.

He has worked as a school psychologist for over three decades, during which time he also served as a Committee on Preschool Special Education Chairperson, and the director of a special education preschool program for a Long Island school district.

His private practice includes work with issues of ADHD, anxiety, depression, grief, loss, social anxiety, and attachment disorders. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, he understands the multiple and complex nature of navigating aspects of the world while being clear to his patients that he does not view all issues through an LGBTQ+ lens. He believes that people are more complex and cannot be seen in one dimension.

Dr. Ferrin was an associate professor at both Dowling College and at the Derner Institute for Psychological Studies at Adelphi University. He has presented at major psychological conferences on such diverse topics as ADHD, educational reform, ASD, building self-esteem, stress, and anxiety. He has written a teacher's guide to working with children with ADHD in the classroom, explaining the nature of this disorder and how it impacts a child's self-esteem and learning style.

From personal experience, he understands the impact on a family when one member suffers from a debilitating chronic medical condition and works closely with families where that issue is present. For ten years, he and his late wife served as co-presidents of the Long Island Chapter of the American Liver Foundation.

He is the author of the forthcoming book "Passages." In his free time, Dr. Ferrin enjoys music and travel.
